The Rice Purity Test is a 100-question quiz that determines your innocence. The test went viral in 2022 thanks to TikTok, and since then, millions of people have taken the quiz to find out just how innocent they are. The quiz asks you to tick off the things you’ve done in your life, with scenarios about your dating experience, criminal history, and drug and alcohol consumption. The more things you’ve done on the list, the less innocent you are.[1]
- The test was first created in the early 1920s at Rice University (hence the name Rice Purity Test).[2]
- While the Rice Purity Test originated in a scholarly setting, there is no organization or institution currently overseeing the official test. The psychological basis of the test, therefore, isn’t inclusive, as the test is meant to be lighthearted and fun.[3]

The higher your Rice Purity score, the more innocent you are. With the Rice Purity Test, your purity rests on how high or low your final number is. The higher the number, the purer you are; the lower your score, the more “corrupt” or rebellious you are.[8]
- Keep in mind that this is a fun test to share with your friends, not an official score of your purity. Your results don’t define who you are.
